ANCILLARY INFORMATION

Flight: 00-020-18
Date: August 24, 2000
Aircraft: DC-8, Aircraft Number 817
Deployment: PACRIM II
Flight Location: Hunter Region, Carinda, L. Coombabah, Injune, Duaringa; Australia
Principal Investigator: Coops, Finn, Milne, Shaikh, Turner (AUS)
Additional Sensors: AirSAR
Objective:
Hunter Region - Develop and evaluate radar and hyper-spectral techniques for estimating above ground biomass in Blackbutt stands for carbon credit accounting and auditing.
Carinda - Mapping and classification of native vegetation communities.
L. Coombabah - Develop an operational approach for mapping mangrove forest hydrology at a scale adequate to identify mosquito breeding habitat.
Injune - Assess the potential of SAR for measuring the total and component above ground biomass of woodlands in Queensland.
Duaringa - Evaluate the capacity of remote sensing to estimate woody biomass in ecosystems of contrasting structure and biomass density and plantations of hardwood and softwood species.
