ANCILLARY INFORMATION

Flight: 98-008-01
Date: August 12, 1998
Aircraft: DOE B200 Beechcraft
Deployment: RSL-Aug98
Flight Location: Ivanpah and Lake Mead, NV
Principal Investigator: Dr. Simon Hook (JPL)
Additional Sensors: 6" RC-30 (CIR)
Objective: The Lake Mead data will validate the thermal infrared radiance at the sensor as measured by MASTER. The Ivanpah data is intended to validate the visible-shortwave infrared radiance at the sensor as measured by MASTER.

Data Evaluation

  1. MASTER engineering subsystems not operational.
  2. Port 1 misaligned. Diffraction grading screws loose. Data and noise values not valid.
  3. Port 3 failed on the last long flight-line over Lake Mead. This was the highest altitude flight line. BB, video and head counts are all flat. Analog offset for the port 3 bands are flat.
  4. Port 4 head counts go to zero intermittently.
  5. Coherent noise in port 4 bands. Cycle is dependent upon scan speed.
  6. Port 3 noise levels are elevated.
  7. Offset in time between navigation data and MASTER time is +2:40.
